Voicing Spaces: Archival Openings brings together six insights from the 1980sto early 2000s, tracing rooms, streets, kitchens and meeting places that held, propelled, and sometimes complicated the lives of Black women in Zurich. Centred on those whointersected with the Treffpunkt Schwarzer Frauen (1993–2010), the exhibition uses collageto subvert negative images embedded in “stable” archives, reclaiming presence within ashared, collective memory. Each collage is a vignette rather than a totalising account — anarchival opening shaped by conversations between the artist and the women, showing howspaces which have little to no visual record, can be voiced. Here, the archive is approachedas conversational, oral, fluid and layered — giving spatial form to a history that left almostno architectural or formal archival trace, yet endures in voices, textures and the mappedintimacies of the city.
